What a PRC pole barn kit is

Every kit is a complete roof structure for an open, post-frame pole barn: 4/12-pitch steel web trusses sized to the width, treated 6x6 or 8x8 posts with two bags of concrete per post, 16-gauge red-oxide C-purlins, 26-gauge ribbed metal roof panels cut to the slope length with a 16 in framing overhang, ridge cap and gable rake trim, truss and post bolt sets, and washer screws by the bag. Widths run 20, 24, 30 and 40 ft; length is any 5 ft increment; eave heights go to 16 ft. Common sizes include 24 × 30, 24 × 40, 30 × 40, 30 × 50, 30 × 60 and 40 × 60. The pole barn kits page has the full component list, and the configurator shows exact quantities for your size.

It is a materials kit. It does not include a slab, sidewall panels, doors, engineering or permits. Those can all be quoted; just tell us in the notes. If you want it built, choose the installed option. Installed price shown as an estimate, confirmed after a site visit. See what is in a 30x40 or a 40x60 for a bay-by-bay breakdown of the two most common sizes.

Delivery to Louisiana

Concordia, Catahoula, Tensas and Franklin parishes are a short run across the river. Baton Rouge, the Florida Parishes, Acadiana and central Louisiana are routine loads too. Delivery: $200 within 120 miles of our yard, $285 beyond, final delivery cost confirmed at order based on location.

Every kit is cut to length and delivered to your site: trusses, panels and purlins arrive together. A 40x60 is a long load, so tell us about site access (gates, soft ground, overhead lines) in the configurator notes.

Standard pole barns are usually ready 2–3 weeks after the deposit clears; custom sizes are confirmed at order. Your exact delivered price is good for one week, a 50% deposit places the order, and the balance is due before delivery.

Louisiana towns we regularly deliver to

Vidalia, Ferriday, Jonesville, Winnsboro, Monroe, Bastrop, Ruston, Alexandria, Natchitoches, Baton Rouge, Zachary, Denham Springs, Hammond, Covington, Opelousas and Lafayette. If your town is not on that list, it does not mean we cannot get there; it means we have not been there yet. Put your address in the configurator and the delivery cost is confirmed at order.

No contractor license needed to buy

Materials are sold to anyone. You do not need a contractor's license, a business account or a dealer agreement to buy a pole barn kit from PRC in Louisiana. Farmers, homeowners, small builders and property managers all buy the same kit at the same price. If you are a builder who wants a counted, cut-to-length materials package for a customer's job, this is the fastest way to get one.

Permits and codes in Louisiana: the honest version

Louisiana enforces a statewide building code through parish and municipal permit offices, and how that code is applied to agricultural and accessory buildings differs from parish to parish. Some parishes exempt farm buildings; others require a permit for anything over a certain footprint. We do not track every jurisdiction's rules, and we will not pretend to. Before you order, call the permit office for the county, parish or city where the barn will sit and ask three things: whether an open pole barn of your size needs a permit, whether it needs sealed engineering, and whether there are setback or floodplain rules for the site. That ten-minute call is the owner's responsibility and it is the best ten minutes you will spend on the project.

PRC supplies materials. Engineering, permits and inspections are the buyer's responsibility and are not included in a kit price. If your jurisdiction requires engineered drawings, ask us before ordering and we will tell you what documentation is available for the components.

Installed by PRC crews in Louisiana

Louisiana pole barn builders are stretched thin in a lot of parishes. A materials kit with an installed option gives you two ways in: hire a local crew you trust and hand them a complete, counted materials list, or let PRC quote the labor with the kit. Our crews are vetted and insured. Installed price shown as an estimate, confirmed after a site visit. Read more on the install crews page, or toggle the installed option in the configurator to see the estimate for your size.

Louisiana pole barn kit questions

Is building a pole barn easy?

Easier than most buildings, which is why post-frame is popular with owner-builders. There is no foundation to form, no stud walls and no decking: set posts in concrete, bolt trusses to the posts, screw purlins across the trusses, screw panels to the purlins, add trim. The hard parts are getting the posts plumb and on layout, handling 30 and 40 ft trusses safely, and working at eave height. Two or three people with a tractor or a telehandler and a few days is a realistic picture for a 30x40. If that does not sound like your weekend, the installed option exists for a reason.

How much does a pole barn kit cost in Louisiana?

Pole barn kits start at the figure shown above. For your exact size: Configure your building, verify your phone by text, and see your exact delivered price instantly — one total, good for one week. Delivery: $200 within 120 miles of our yard, $285 beyond, final delivery cost confirmed at order based on location.

How much is a 20x20 pole barn?

Our smallest standard width is 20 ft, and the configurator will price a 20x20 at whatever eave you want. At that size a kit is often not much cheaper than a 20x30, because trusses, trim and post count do not scale down much. Run both in the configurator and see; many buyers at 20x20 end up adding a bay.

Do you deliver to all of Louisiana?

Yes, PRC delivers anywhere in the state. Delivery: $200 within 120 miles of our yard, $285 beyond, final delivery cost confirmed at order based on location. Whether it makes sense depends on the kit size, and we will tell you honestly if a local supplier is likely to beat us on a small order.

Pole barn vs metal building: which is cheaper?

For an open roof structure, a post-frame pole barn kit is almost always cheaper than a red-iron building of the same footprint, because the posts are the foundation and there are no base plates, anchor bolts or wall framing. Once you want full enclosure, insulation and large doors, the gap narrows. We wrote a straight comparison.

Can I buy just the trusses, or just the panels?

Yes. Trusses, purlins and panels are each priced separately in the configurator. Panels are cut to length and sold by the piece; purlin is sold by the linear foot. See roofing panels and purlins and framing.
