How a lean-to kit is figured
- Rafters: C-channel sized to the projection: 4 in C to 15 ft, 6 in C to 20 ft, 8 in C to 25 ft. No overhang; rafters are cut to the projection plus 2 in.
- Bays: rafters land on the existing barn's post spacing, so the bays match the barn: 15 ft bays with 4 in purlins, 20 ft bays with 6 in purlins.
- High side: no ledger. A top C-purlin ties into each barn post and carries the high end of the rafters.
- Low side: a post under every rafter, 6x6 or 8x8 by the low eave height, two bags of concrete each, with a C header across the post tops.
- Purlins: rows down the slope, no farther than 4 ft apart, 4 in or 6 in section by bay.
- Roof and trim: panels cut to the slope, eave trim on the low side, rake trim both ends, wall-transition flashing.
Pitch 1/12 to 4/12. The configurator holds the quote if the low side would drop under 6.5 ft so you can raise the attach height or flatten the pitch.
